It has been reported in the chemical industry press that ECHA have stated that dossiers submitted by lead registrants after March may have to wait until August to get their registration numbers. Those submitting dossiers before the end of March should get a registration number within three weeks!!
Is this ECHA trying to encourage registrants to submit early to spread the workload, or the real potential impact of thousands of last minute registrations slowing down the dossier acceptance process?
What will be the impact on registrants who submit a dossier up to 8 weeks before the deadline but have to wait months for a registration number? Will Downstream users be demanding registration numbers, will national enforcement agencies have sufficient information available to confirm that a submission has been made within the deadline?
One thing is for sure, if registrants can submit before March, then this is highly advisable!!
