31st May 2018 – the last phase-in deadline for pre-registered substances a very key milestone in the implementation of the EU REACH Regulation, and I am here in Helsinki at the ECHA offices.
Industry has work hard over the 12 years since the original publication of the REACH Regulation to identify substances, gather data, organise data-sharing groups and submit chemical dossiers on substances that are placed on the EU market. It will be interesting to see how programmes develop beyond this key date.
Today, however I am attending the second day of a workshop on the potential restriction of microplastics, an issue EOSCA members and other chemical suppliers to the Oil and Gas industry have worked hard on, to provide the most detailed data available to date, to inform discussions.
